یک قلم فارسی مناسب وِب، قلمی است که حروف لاتین دارد ولی فاصلهٔ خطوط برای نمایش مناسب متن فارسی تنظیم شده است. این فاصله شاید برای حروف لاتین زیاد باشد ولی برای زبانهای فارسی و عربی و... مناسب است. حروف لاتین تنها به عنوان پشتیبان برای متن فارسی در نظر گرفته شده‌اند. در واقع در یک قلم فارسی برای وِب، همان معامله‌ای با حروف لاتین شده است که تایمز و اریال و دیگر قلم‌های کنونی فارسی یا عربی به پیش‌کسوتی یا پیروی از آن، با فارسی کرده اند. یعنی اینکه حروف لاتین در یک قلم فارسی برای وِب، تابعی از ملازمات استتیک خط فارسی شده است. پس به همان اندازه که یک قلم فارسی وِب برای متون صرفاً لاتین نامناسب است، یک قلم لاتین مثل اریال نیز برای متون صرفاً فارسی نا مناسب است... چه به لحاظ ریزی و چه به لحاظ غیر optimal بودن فاصلهٔ خطوط.

از سوی دیگر قلم فارسی مناسب وِب برای مصرف عمومی تنظیم شده است. مصرف عمومی نیز متونی است که از اِعراب بصورت جسته و گریخته، و تنها در صورت نیاز استفاده می‌کنند. اگر چنین قلمی برای متون قرآنی یا آموزشی استفاده شود، که در آن بر تک تک حروف اِعراب قرار داده می‌شود، فاصلهٔ میان خطوط اندکی تنگ جلوه خواهد کرد و در مواری اِعراب بر حروف خطوط بالا یا پائین خواهند نشست. اگر چه در حد امکان از بروز آن پیشگیری شده است. برای پرهیز کامل از این برهم نشینی، فاصلهٔ پیشفرض خطوط باید افزایش یابد. این امر اگرچه جلوهٔ متون قرآنی و آموزشی را بهبود خواهد بخشید، ولی فاصلهٔ میان خطوط در صورت عدم استفاده از اِعراب و برای متون مصرف عمومی را بیش از اندازهٔ مطلوب خواهد کرد. از آنجا که هم‌اکنون قلم‌های خوبی برای متون قرآنی و آموزشی در دسترس است، اولویت در قلم‌های سری ایکس ۲ به مصرف عمومی داده شده است. در صورت نیاز به استفاده از این قلم‌ها در متون قرآنی و آموزشی، احتمالاً ضرورت پیدا خواهد کرد که در واژه‌پرداز فاصلهٔ میان خطوط را اندکی افزایش داد.
